The Catholic Business Network of Northern Virginia was originally organized in 1991 as the Justin D. McClunn Society, an association of mostly medical and legal professionals dedicated to providing pro bono services to the indigent.

In 1997, The Catholic Business Network of Northern Virginia name was adopted as the Society expanded its membership to include all working  men and women, businesses, and individuals representing community  interests. An independent, nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization, it has renamed itself as the Catholic Business Network of Northern Virginia (CBN-NOVA) without affiliation to the McClunn Society, and is dedicated to supporting Catholic Schools throughout the Diocese of Arlington.
